Dave Hersch and son Miles, 10, love to zip about their neighbourhood on a twin-bowl TOILET CAR. They were inspired by a small Hot Wheels toy car that featured a toilet as a seat with a plunger steering wheel. But it took four years and three prototypes to perfect a design that wasn't likely to leave unsightly skid marks. The end result features a 6.5hp motor capable of driving two adults at 30mph. It also features SIX toilet rolls and a magazine rack for longer visits to the loo-on-wheels. Dave, a graphic designer from Lakewood, Colorado, explains: "The first version was literally a toilet on top of a go cart. It didn't last past the first turn. The toilet slid off and broke into a million pieces on the road. Porcelain is very fragile I have learned. "The second version was still a single toilet but had some features like a bolted down toilet, brakes, and a toilet seat. That version didn't make it past the first ride by my friend who flipped it and broke the toilet again. "Finally the current model was build to be foolproof. Two toilets for transporting friends and family. That way I am always the driver." Dave welded the car himself and wanted it to be as much like a real toilet as possible. He says: "I added coolers as cistern tanks since real tanks are too heavy and hard to secure. I also added the "Six Roller", the capability of having six rolls of toilet paper on the cart with tensioned adjuster to get the perfect paper length. "The magazine rack was the final touch that really brought the comfort of the bathroom to the mobility of a car.
